Context
Golden Road Gin is an independent premium gin brand rooted in place, nature, and shared journeys. We created Golden Road Gin inspired by the ancient Golden Road in the Preseli Hills of West Wales, a route shaped by landscape, folklore, and time.
Challenge
Our ambition was to create packaging that genuinely reflected the care, craft, and values behind the liquid. We wanted the bottle to feel considered, authentic, and quietly confident.
We were focused on three things:
Elevating perceived quality while remaining grounded and human
Aligning the packaging with our sustainability ethos
Creating a tactile, memorable experience that felt intentional from first touch to final pour
The closure was a critical detail, it needed to feel premium, functional, and consistent with the story we’re telling.
Solution
We chose a Bostocap closure that combined a natural cork core with a refined outer finish, offering both performance and aesthetic integrity.
Material choice was key. The natural cork element resonated strongly with our connection to landscape and nature, while the clean, understated finish complemented our label design rather than competing with it. Subtlety mattered more to us than high shine.
The closure struck the balance we were looking for, premium without pretence. It reinforced quality from the moment of opening, aligned with our sustainability principles, and felt like a natural extension of the bottle rather than an afterthought.

The closure elevated the overall perceived value of the bottle and contributed to a cohesive, thoughtful shelf presence. It signals care, craft, and intention, exactly what we want people to feel before they’ve even tasted the gin.
